We Need a Radical Generosity Revolution

I copied this from an email I got regarding Giving Tuesday this past December, and I wanted to share it. They say it way better than I could. Giving Tuesday is a global movement and not just a fundraising day. It's all about giving: Your time, your talent, your money, your support to bring more generosity in an incredibly self centered world. I am happy to be a part of that day and of that revolution. We've spent the past four weeks putting together the first ever GivingTuesday impact report and it's incredibly humbling to get to pour through, uncover, and get inspired by all of the acts of giving that happens on December 3.

Watching the tidal wave of generosity on GivingTuesday is like watching a murmuration of starlings — the almost magical, yet highly regimented, coordination and simultaneous action of many individual beings to create a sweeping, unified effect — joyful to behold.

But at the same time, it seems the world around us has become radically less generous. The need for more generosity is urgent. The need for a movement to create real, systemic change is very real. The GivingTuesday team believes the world is very ready for a generosity revolution.

What we need is not incremental but radical generosity — to reimagine our world from the ground up as a place where we don’t just work harder to alleviate all these harms but one where we don’t tolerate them in the first place.
